Winter Escape
Many people think of the beach as just a summer holiday but it is also a fantastic winter destination! Port Vincent on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula is one of those most popular holiday destinations. This is of course understandable, because the sandy beaches are surrounded by vivid blue seas which will take your breath away the minute you arrive in town. There are many recreational activities on offer in and around the surrounding area.
Fishing is great at this time of year and with generally less people here means more fish for you and if you have a dog, they wont mind a run on the beach whatever the weather. We even have pet friendly cabins to accommodate for them too.
Bird watching enthusiasts will be in their element with many species in abundance, especially the shorebirds. You can download a PDF version here Yorke_Peninsula_coastal_birds[1]of local bird you may see, so you can tick them off on you travels while you are here.
You may think it is to cold in winter to visit but it may not be as cold as other parts of SA with 7 degrees the lowest temperature in winter and 30 degrees the highest in summer and with no frost it really doesn’t get much better than that!
So come and try it, you might even love it!
